“My dear friend, Purple Dragonfly,” said the Fairy.
“Yes, my tiny friend, Fairy,” said the Purple Dragonfly.
“I would love to see what is on the other side of that hill, but my wings are too tiny to get me there,” said the Fairy.
“Hop on, but hang on tight, I don’t want to lose you along the way,” said the Purple Dragonfly.
“Really!! Do you mean it,” said the Fairy. “You would take me to see the other side of the hill?”
“Why not! My wings will get us there, no problem,” said the Purple Dragonfly.
The tiny Fairy hopped on Purple Dragonfly’s back, held on tight…and off they went!
As they topped the hill, they saw more wildflowers than they had ever seen in one place before.
“Oh, I just knew it would be wonderful, but I didn’t expect this,” said the Fairy. “Thank you so much my dear Purple friend!”
They flew on and on until they realized it was getting late.
“As much as I love seeing the other side of the hill, we must head back,” said the Purple Dragonfly.
“Yes, I guess we must. Can we come back again sometime?” asked the tiny Fairy,
“Absolutely!!” said the Purple Dragonfly.
As they were about to top the hill, Purple Dragonfly realized that it was getting dark and he was having trouble seeing ahead.
“My tiny friend, Fairy, it is getting dark and I’m having a bit of trouble seeing ahead,” said the Purple Dragonfly.
“Don’t worry, follow me,” came a strange voice from right be side them. “I’m Firefly and my light will show us the way home.”
“Oh, thank you!” said the Purple Dragonfly and the tiny Fairy.
“Where do you live?” said the Firefly.
“We live in the big tree by the blue-green lake,” said the tiny Fairy.
“Oh, I know exactly where that is, I have friends that live near there,” said the Firefly. “Follow my light!”
On and on they flew, keeping each other company and making new friends. They had a lovely time. Then….there it was. The big tree by the blue-green lake.
“Home!” said the tiny Fairy and the Purple Dragonfly. “Thank you for sharing your light and helping us get home safely.
“You are very welcome, and I am glad to have two new friends,” said the Firefly. “Perhaps the next time you want to see the other side of the hill, I can go with you, so we can all find our way home.”
“That would be perfect,” agreed the tiny Fairy and Purple Dragonfly. “Absolutely, perfect.”
